This 13-Year-Old Girl from Himachal Pradesh is Raising Awareness About Mental Health
Meet Avya Khurana, a 13-year-old founder of Healing Up from Himachal Pradesh. Avya's journey into mental health awareness began when she noticed the growing need for support and understanding in her community. Driven by her passion for helping others, she launched Healing Up, a platform dedicated to spreading awareness about mental health issues.
From a young age, Avya was interested in understanding human behavior and psychology. This curiosity led her to offer services through Healing Up, such as discussions with psychologists to provide guidance and support for those struggling with mental health challenges.
Avya’s vision for Healing Up doesn’t stop there. She is actively working on developing a mobile app for the platform, which will offer resources and tools to help individuals manage their mental health. This app aims to make mental health support more accessible and convenient for users, aligning with Avya’s goal of fostering a supportive community.
In addition to her work with Healing Up, Avya has a flair for creativity. Two years ago, she started Avya’s Creation, a venture dedicated to calligraphy. Her passion for the art form has not only provided her with a creative outlet but also inspired others to explore their artistic talents.
Avya's entrepreneurial spirit doesn't end with her own projects. She has also gained valuable experience working as an HR intern, where she learned about organizational dynamics and the importance of effective communication. Her role involved attending and arranging webinars, which further honed her skills in event management and public speaking.
Avya believes in the power of peer mentoring and community support. She frequently attends webinars and workshops to expand her knowledge and is always eager to share what she learns with others. Her dedication to helping people understand and improve their mental health is evident in every aspect of her work.
Healing Up, still in its early stages, aims to provide community-based services, both online and offline, to support mental well-being. Avya’s commitment to making a difference in the lives of others is inspiring, and her journey is just beginning.
“There can be shared growth in peer mentoring. Mentoring has a two-way benefit, because when you teach something to someone, you learn far more than you already know.” - Avya Khurana (Founder at Healing Up)
